Project / The Cedar House.
Whistler, British Columbia / Residential Renovation
-
Built in the 1970s, The Cedar House is defined by its original cedar construction and unmistakable cabin character. The kitchen and bathrooms needed a refresh, with the goal of improving function and longevity while preserving the forms and warmth that belonged to the original home.
-
Bring the spaces up to current standards without designing away their history.
Working within an older home meant navigating existing construction, current code requirements and modern functionality — while retaining the original forms and details that give The Cedar House its character.
-
Rather than imposing something entirely new, we worked with what was already there.
Original forms were retained wherever possible, while layouts, materials and details were thoughtfully updated to meet the needs of the home today. New elements were chosen to feel intentional alongside the existing cedar — allowing the old and new to belong together.
The result is not a reinvention of The Cedar House, but an evolution of it.
